CAMP NEVER ENDS EVENTS
Camp Never Ends started when a few friends from camp didn’t want camp to end by continuing to get together post-camp. During each of these outings, many people would post pictures and videos with hastags or chants of “Camp Never Ends.” One outing turned into multiple outings and many memories and stronger friendships. More of the Horizon community began to jump on board and even decided to visit some of their friends at their homes.
When the Board of Directors became aware of these outings, they decided they wanted to make it an official committee. Camp Never Ends was created to promote life-long friendships, support, memories, and inclusion. Camp Never Ends helps to keep the camp spirit alive all year long while making sure everyone in the community is appreciated, loved and cared for – just the way they are at camp.
See below for just a sample of some of the fun events we have hosted. For more information or ideas of possible events please contact, Maeghan Anderson.
Summer or winter, rest assured there are always exciting sports activities to watch and cheer on. We have done many sports related events throughout the year. Some of these activities include Chicago Wolves professional hockey outings, baseball outings such as a White Sox patio party or even people just getting together to watch the Kane County Cougars or Schaumburg Boomers. Recently we’ve attended a Power Soccer tournament; several of our campers are participants. We have also attended several sled hockey games and boccia events.
Sunday Funday Brunch
A few years ago the Sunday Funday brunch took place and it’s been an annual get together ever since. This well-attended event is a great way to catch up with friends in a relaxed atmosphere. Guests will enjoy plentiful libations and delicious food. We try to meet at a different restaurant each time. Stay tuned for the next Sunday Funday brunch!
The Camp Never Ends committee decided to show how much they love their community by making camper visits to some of our members. The committee travels throughout Northern Illinois every winter generating some excitement for summer camp.
Each visit campers are given a gift bag, which includes camp themed items, and snacks are enjoyed. Time is also spent doing arts and crafts and playing games.
