2009 Summer Camp Applications Are Ready

The official start to our 2009 camp season began Saturday at the Recruitment Kickoff Party at Hackney’s Glenview. Thank you to those who came out in the snowy weather to enjoy some time with their Horizon friends and to fill out their camp applications.

The application is now available on-line too. Since space is limited and we are anticipating a large number of new camper applicants, we have decided to fill spaces with previous Horizon campers up to March 10th. After March 10th we will begin to fill the remaining spaces on a first come, first served basis. If you are a new camper to our program, you can still submit your application before March 10th. You will be placed on a list according to date received and after March 10th we will fill remaining spaces from the list till we are full.

Great Time Had by All

On Saturday, Horizon held its annual family holiday party. A large turnout enjoyed a sensational buffet lunch while visiting with fellow Horizon members. There was even a special guest appearance by Santa Claus himself. The kids receive presents while telling Santa what they wanted for Christmas. Best of all Santa was kind enough to take a group picture and photos will be available on the web site soon. Thanks to everyone who put together this wonderful holiday party.

Thanks to shopping weekend organizers

The Annual Horizon Shop with a Friend Weekend was a blast. A lot of members gathered for a fun afternoon of shopping and a relaxing evening spent with friends. Believe it or not, several people even accomplished the task at hand, their holiday shopping. One participant spent over $600 shopping, we just wonder how much of that were gifts for other people. For more information click on the shop with a friend link under activities.

A special thanks goes to the individuals who worked hard to plan this event. From what I saw, everybody had a wonderful time. Maybe we should do this more often???

Horizon Family Party

The Horizon Family Holiday Party is just around the corner. Please visit HOLIDAY PARTY to get more information and make sure you RSVP in plenty of time. This is Horizon’s way of thanking all our volunteers and family members for the hard work they do throughout the year.

Great time had by all

I would personally like to thank everyone on the Night at the Races Committee for putting together a wonderful fundraising event for Horizon. Everyone made you feel like you were in Las Vegas, especially seeing Elvis and Lady luck in person. The buffet dinner was excellent and there were a large selection of prizes that people won. I only wish luck could of shined on me to win a prize but I still came home happy knowing that I was able to help a wonderful organization.
Thank you again everyone.

11th Annual Night at the Races

Horizon’s 11th Annual Night at the Races is quickly approaching. This has been our biggest fundraiser for the past 7 or 8 years and we need your to help keep the streak alive. We still have seats available for the wonderful 2 hour buffet overlooking the racetrack at Balmoral Park. If you are interested in attending you can email us at NATR@associationofhorizon.org or check out Night at the Races under the Fundraising Tab.

Another success

This past weekend Horizon held its fall weekend in Ingleside Illinois. There was a good turnout and fun was had by all. I would like to thank the committee who worked very hard in putting this together. This new camp location was really nice and the weather definitely cooperated. Thanks to everyone.
