This year we have a video highlighting the week of camp. A special thanks goes out to Michael A. for all his hard work. This video shows several aspects of summer camp. It includes a variety of different activities that happen. Whether you were at camp this year, haven’t been recently, or maybe just want to show the people you know what Horizon Summer Camp is about, view the following YouTube clip.
The deadline for turning in your camp application is approaching quickly. This year’s weekend camp will be held at Timber Pointe Outdoor Center in Hudson Illinois. For dates & time, please click on the fall camp link.
Camp has been over for almost a week and I would like to see my friends. Luckily, Horizon is hosting its annual beach party get together. This year’s beach party will be Saturday, August 8 at Montrose Beach. Click beach for more information. Hope to see everyone there.
Horizon Camp ended on Saturday, July 25 and I’m still recovering. This year’s camp was a blast. There were a lot of new people that brought new spirit back to the camping experience. We had our largest turnout with nearly 200 people throughout the week. The camp and recruitment committees worked hard in the organization process and everyone had a wonderful time.
There were many of our favorite activities including Arts & Crafts, swimming, karaoke and our pizza party. One new activity that was quite popular was our Cabin Feud game show. We combined cabins and they competed against others. Congratulations to Owl/Hawk for their victory. It was fun and exciting to watch but there was some controversy and a couple of teams were not pleased with the outcome. People have to realize it was ONLY A GAME! Horizon did bring back its Carnival evening and there were several creative games for everyone to participate in.
It is hard to imagine seven days going so quickly but that happens every year at Camp. By the time people get to know one another it’s time to pack up. Please feel free to leave a comment about your camp experience that you just will not forget or something you would like to share with others.
Horizon Summer Camp is approaching quickly. This year we will be expecting a record turnout. Everyone is working hard to accept as many people as the site will allow. With the weather heating up, make sure to pack sunscreen and mosquito repellent. To view a list of other recommended things click items to bring to camp. This year’s theme for summer camp is TV SHOWS. Bring all of your creative ideas to help your cabins with their theme.
The committee has been working hard organizing this year’s camp. We have some traditional favorite activities along with a few new ones, so be ready for a week of fun and excitement. If for some reason you are unable to attend a last-minute, please contact the recruitment committee as soon as possible. They need to know whether you are a volunteer or camper in order to make sure we have everyone covered. Thank you for your cooperation.
