Horizon’s Beach Party

We have set this year’s HORIZON’S BEACH PARTY for Sunday, August 8 at Montrose Beach. We need people to help with the event, meaning get there early to did a nice shady spot. To help with this committee, please contact anna.lopez@associationofhorizon.org.
Horizon will provide place, napkin and utensils. Please bring your favorite dish to share. It will be a fun time had by all.

Record numbers for Summer Camp 2010

Now that summer camp is over, we found out we had over 220 total participants. This is an increase of 40 people over our previous year. A special thanks goes to everyone on the recruitment committee and the camp committee for all of their hard work in making summer camp a huge success. There were a lot of new disabled adults and volunteers that were a lot of fun and we hope they continue to support Horizon throughout the year.
The week was filled with fun activities, including old favorites like Creaoke, Bill Hoffman’s Amazing Animals, pontoon boat rides just to name a few things. If you were part of this year’s camp leave a comment on what was your favorite activity (eating at the cookout doesn’t count).
It took everyone involved to make it a wonderful time and I myself can hardly wait for Summer Camp 2011. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE

July 18 summer camp Horizon 2010 will begin. A special thanks to the entire camp committee for working so hard at planning no week. It sounds like it’s going to be a wonderful week of camp with a variety of activities. If you are unable to attend for the week, we could always use your help for setting up & cleaning up camp. For more information on how to help in this area, please e-mail tom.daly@associationofhorizon.org.
You are also invited to come down on July 23 “VISITORS DAY.” Come on down to visit your friends, see the campsite and if you would like to join us for dinner please leave us a message on our hotline 773-477-5170.
Personally I can hardly wait and we hope to see you there.

Summer Camp approaching quickly

Horizon committee members are working hard getting ready for summer camp 2010. Camp & recruitment committees are finishing all in the last minute items for camp. If you’re coming this year, when you start packing sure you bring enough sunscreen and mosquito repellent because it looks like it’s going to be a hot and very buggy. Thanks to all committee members for the continuous hard work and we look forward to enjoying a wonderful week at Camp Horizon.

Horizon and the Schaumburg Flyers

Horizon’s Schaumburg Flyers game fundraiser is just a month away!! There are plenty of tickets still available so if you’re interested in attending, send your money immediately to Viki Peer at 4713 West Pensacola, Chicago, IL 60641. We would like to have a large turnout for this event. Come visit with your friends watch affordable baseball and that evening is $2 Tuesday, this means drinks are only $2 and that includes beer!! Of course, you must be 21 years of age to purchase beer. So please send in your money ASAP, because time is running out to join in for a fabulous evening of baseball.

The Hudetz Family Golf Outing

Sarah Hudetz has been a participant of camp for several years and with her family’s help, they will be hosting their “Horizon Camp Benefit Golf Outing” on Saturday, May 22. This event will be held at The Tamarack Golf Club located on 24032 Royal Worthington Drive in Naperville, Illinois.
Cost is $100 per person with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The price includes lunch, 18 holes of golf & dinner. Not a golfer? No problem, dinner only tickets are available for $50 per person. 2010 Horizon Golf Outing & Luau

Horizon will be hosting its annual Golf Outing & Hawaiian Luau on Saturday, August 7, 2010. We moved the event back this year and save the date notices have been sent. On Saturday, April 24, Horizon held to separate and successful fundraisers. A special thank you for all of those involved in planning The Bowl for Horizon and the Pasta Party. It is not an easy task to plan such events and the organization really appreciates all the help and money raised. Keep up the good work Horizon members, friends & family.

Please join us for our Bowl for Horizon which will be held in Deerfield, or show your support at our Pasta Party we should be held in Indiana.
