“Darius Goes West” Documentary

Posted by admin under: Uncategorized .

In case you haven’t heard, “Darius Goes West” is a multi-award-winning documentary, about a 15-year-old with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  Darius Weems & 11 of his best friends leaves his hometown for the first time in his life with the ultimate goal of getting MTV’s Pimp My Ride to customize his wheelchair. The result is a rarely seen testament to the idealism of today’s youth, vivid portrayal of adventure, of brotherhood, and of the character and strength it takes to shed light on an uncertain future. Now, the cast and crew are on a mission to sell 1 million copies of the DVD in a year.  They are currently making their way around the country appearing at screenings, and they even made the Ellen Degeneres show describing their adventures and promoting research for MD.
Ellen Westley recently saw the film and met Darius.  Ellen said “He is an incredible guy, working hard to ensure a cure for DMD not for himself but for those who will come after him.”  The DVD costs $20… $17 goes immediately to DMD research and the rest goes to the production of the DVDs.  For more information about this film, or Darius please visit his web site dariusgoeswest.org

Hey all- Darius and crew plan to return to Chicago in January for another screening. I’ll be sure to pass along the info for that event. In the mean time, buy the dvd! Not only does it deal with issues central to Horizon’s vision and message, but it is also a lot of fun. If you have any other questions feel free to let me know!
